First thing you will notice is that this phone is almost as heavy as some of the legacy phone sets. I will give GS a 10 out 10 here as the previous phones were featherweights and could easily be bumped around the desk and almost needed to be taped down to stay on the desk.
I like the weather and forecast on the screen for the area. I couldn’t find my code until I went http://aspnetresources.com/tools/WeatherIdResolver . These types of features are what the user wants. The stock report was also cool and currency rate I think are over kill but believe it or not Clients think it is cool.
Other buttons that make it nice to use “end call” button, a button that is labeled for what it does instead of release.
Another button labeled correctly is the SEND button. Yes I know that most phones have this button (not labeled send). I am not sure why the label on most phones doesn’t say something about making the call. So simple a concept.
Switch screen (swicthSCR) is an actual labeled button as well. The viewing Screen is large enough to see on this model ( I am not sure how much space was added) but the use of phone real estate up is great. Since a lot of issues were fixed in Version 2 and 3 every thing worked as before, except for the HD sound which turns out to be real HD.
Hand piece still could use some more weight, although it is a lot heavier then previous models. I think some more weight would be nice. But that does not detract from the other enhancements to this phone.
I am one of the few telecom techs that recommend this phone over other phone sets. I am also one of the only ones that have actually done user based tests and Grandstream always comes out on top for user wants and features and simplicity. Although when they first started to check out phones that would say they wanted the expensive one. In service and actually using them they chose The Grandstream GXP2100
On buttons and labels; Many users asked me, why they don’t just label it as “xxxxx” instead of yyyyy. Grandstream gets this and gets thumbs up for understanding this simple concept of updating their terms and labels. They understand KISS.
Only a a couple faults but not biggies, Grandstream has this bad habit (always has) of not stating what version of phone you have. So it is really hard to tell if you have an updated one or an old one. It So you really have to be careful. I remember one of the GPX that completely redid the interior of the phone new boards, new software everything was new, except the chassis so for a while you actually had to ask when buying. Otherwise this phone in my opinion is better then phones costing 3 times the money
